Valentines Films On In London
The lovely people over at Now Here This have put together a great Valentines round up of romantic films on around the Capital this Feb.
Romance at the round chapel
The atmospheric Round Chapel in Clapton will be screening romantic classics including ‘Dirty Dancing’and ‘Romeo and Juliette’ through the Valentine’s period. There’s also a licensed bar so get there at 7pm for a pre-screening drink.
What about ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s’?
Meanwhile over in Leicester Square, the Prince Charles Cinema is screening the iconic ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s‘ staring Audrey Hepburn as the eccentric Holly Golightly. Incidentally, Capote wasn’t a fan of Hepburn’s performance of his female lead, wishing that Marilyn Monore had played the part. Whatever you think of her performance, this is a classic.
Moët at the Movies
If you are feeling flush, Moët & Chandon are screening the rom-com ‘It’s Complicated’, starring this year’s Oscar favourite Meryl Streep at One Alwych. Follow the film with a three course dinner at 8.30pm, or watch Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin fight over Meryl on a full stomach after dinner at 7pm. Naturally, a glass of Champagne is included.
Harold and Maude
If you’re looking for something less predictable, the Rio Cinema in Dalston will be screening Hal Ashby’s touching and darkly comic oddball love story between a practical joke-playing late-teen and a gentle septuagenarian.
Morricone in Love
For something even more out of the ordinary, check out Rich Mix’s Valentine’s day special. Sixties erotic thrillers provide the backdrop to live music in this celebration of composer Ennio Morricone. Focusing on scores from 1968-1972. Expect plenty of appearances from Dario Argento films and a succession of writhing temptresses to titillate you and your date. Didi Mae Hand
