Turnpike Glow, 1986
After the devastating news that Canadian alt rock collective Broken Social Scene had parted ways at the end of last year it was somewhat of a consolation that Turnpike Glow emerged with the help of BSS producer Dave Newfeld. Their latest single 1986 is an addictive 3 minutes 45 seconds with a familiar twang.
Capturing the end of a relationship under a heavy and unusual Roman snow, a snow fall that made for a Guardian headline that read: “The Heaviest Snow to Fall in Rome Since 1986” this track really is inspired by a true story.
With overdriven drums and a big and punchy sing-a-long chorus Turnpike Glow have made a big impact on their loyal following so far. Catch them live at the Wheelbarrow in Camden on March 1st as a part of the fabulous ‘Geek Out’ to sample their extremely hummable tunes firsthand.
