Tube Stations To Be Cooled Down
It’s the thing most commonly moaned about by us Londoners once the hotter weather hits… how damn hot it is underground and now two tube stations are set to be cooled down in time for the Summer months.
In a move which we are sure has NOTHING to do with the fact the Olympics are coming to down Oxford Circus and Green Park, two of London’s busiest stations, are to have extra measures taken to ensure those waiting for a tube don’t have to sweat while doing it.
At Green Park they will be pipping cold water from a borehole into units on the platform while over at Oxford Circus they plan to fit chiller units that will blow cold air onto the platform.
The plans are just another move from TfL to further cool London’s tubes and stations, something they say they are now making a priority and with the first air conditioned train hitting the Metropolitan line last year it should only be a matter of a few more years until most of the network is running a similar system.
