The Doves and Mumford & Sons to Play Eden Sessions
Mumford and Sons, those slightly depressive, slightly folky lot who get played constantly on Radio 1 (don’t get us wrong we do love them) have been confirmed to play with the Doves (who we don’t rate quite as much) for the upcoming Eden Sessions. If one band is lacking the venue will certainly make up for it.
These, if you don’t already know, are gigs that take place in the huge complex known as the Eden Project down in Cornwall. This is essentially a large garden that Adam and Eve wouldn’t look out of place in, housed within a dome. So a different gig experience to say the least.
Doves and Mumford and Sons will play on Friday July 2, this won’t be the first time the Doves have played at the Eden Project, they played at the home of the world-famous Biomes in 2002, the first year of the Sessions.
Tjarko Wieringa, Eden Sessions Creative Director, said: “We’re really excited to welcome Doves back to Eden after playing such a brilliant gig here in 2002. Mumford & Sons are one of the best new acts around and the combination of the two promises another legendary Session.”
The Sessions are famed not only for bringing top acts to Cornwall but also for their festival feel, with extra bands and entertainers playing around the site in the run-up to the main event. Massage and alternative therapies will also be showcased around Eden on the day of each Session.
Tickets for the Doves and Mumford & Sons Session go on sale to members of the Inside Track programme at 6pm today (Tuesday March 2) and on general release at 6pm on Tuesday March 9. They are priced at £35 plus booking fee.
