The best places to show off your bogling skills this carnival weekend
Jerk chicken, massive soundsystems, colourful chaos on the streets of Notting Hill. Yes it’s carnival time again. As Notting Hill is my endz (my tired eyes on Tuesday will testify that I live on the end of the route) I thought I’d put together a hit list of some of the best parties running around the carnival this weekend, mine’s a red stripe if you see me!
E.T.A.
(Estimated Time of Arrival) will host their legendary annual Carnival party on Sunday 29th August.
Situated in a disused 70’s cinema in Shepherd’s Bush the West London party people have thrown together a big line up with Stanton Warriors, Goldfish, Riva Starr and Lazersonic all blasting out of their huge Funktion 1 sound system. To complete the party there is also ETA residents Hugo Heathcote and Tom Carr, street art from Inkie, LED hula hooping girls and carnival dress up action.
Any tickets left from advance bookings can be purchased from Sunday 29th August from Portobello road hotspot Café Ravenous.
ETA are a veteran party throwing collective whose parties have garnered a large following, including celebrities such as Sienna Miller, Jade Jagger, Kate Moss, Jude Law, Russell Brand, James Blunt and Harvey Weinsten and Paris Hilton.

Supper Club – Mistinguette
A new night is launching at the rather fancy surrounding of Supperclub on Acklam Road on Sunday 29th august from 9pm until late. On the decks will be Layo & Bushwacka!, Russ Jay, Feon and Omri H . You can’t get down to the club without a special invitation (the police block the road off at carnival) but you can print one out from here:
£10 before 10pm, £12 after

Under The Westway
An awesome venue (Jack threw a huge Xmas party here a couple of years back) nestled right underneath the Westway just around the corner from the parade. For this carnival party they’ve sourced DJ’s from Rex Club in Paris backed up by resident DJ Julz and DJ Cheapdate. Kicking off at 6pm with a brass band and easy soul music, plus there will be food served all night from a Caribbean Grill.
Cost: £13 adv. / £18 on the door / £8 for Members
The Metropolitan
This pub next to Westbourne Park station is transformed into a chaotic heaving party every year. This year they’ve got The Nextmen and Part time Heroes on Sunday from 12pm and Monday has Tom Findlay from Groove Armada and Mowgli amonst others.

Paradise by way of Kensal Green
Paradise in an awesome pub and one of my weekend favourites, this bank holiday is no exception with a great carnival line up. Sunday has The Nextmen and the legendary party starting deck wizard Krafty Kuts. Monday has the Count and Sinden (launching a new album), Fake Blood, Mystery Jets, Bashy and some super secret guests.
Sunday 12pm – 3am £15
Monday 12pm – 2am £5
Jezebel Loft Carnival After Party
Jade Jagger’s Jezebel loft parties are a well kept West London secret and this should be a big one. Featuring Loose Cannons, Who’s Jack favourite Starsmith and Bushwacker! the line-up is great and a BBQ in the courtyard should keep your party energy up.
