LFW: Mattijs AW12

As soon as the theme tune to Star Wars started, it was clear that Mattijs’ AW12 show was paying homage to sci fi classics. Set in the Freemasons Hall in a room that was surrounded by ceiling-high gothic black gates, it was a suitably dramatic setting for the striking pieces from the Dutch designer. Entitled ‘Starburst’, the … read more»

LFW: A La Disposition.

A la Disposition proposed a ‘mechanical failure’ of a show and they delivered, not in actual mechanical failure, but with broken outfits and rigid models. The outfits were deconstructed to almost beyond recognition with large ruffled sleeves and umbrella like jodhpurs that made you think of fantasy worlds created by Terry … read more»

LFW : Backstage with Jasper Garvida

Jasper Garvida stated Diana Vreeland as an inspiration for the collection. A collection that blended hard and soft elements, a characteristic Garvida believes Vreeland possessed. This showed true as the dresses and suits were strong with geometric shapes being conjured by large pockets and billowing cap sleeves, plus the embellishment of gold … read more»

LFW: Jacob Kimmie

Jacob Kimmie filled the Vauxhall Fashion Scout show space for a wonderfull ‘rhapsody’ as was explained on the press release, and boy did he deliver.
