Primadonna, Marina’s Next Single
last week we announced new imagery for Marina And the Diamonds return with details of her next single and album, Electra Heart. Now we can tell you that the first Marina & The Diamonds single from this album will be Primadonna.
Primadonna will be released on April 16th and it will serve as the first official single from her forthcoming album Electra Heart.
Out of Marina’s new material the two tracks that were last out couldn’t be more contrasting. The upbeat dancy, Radioactive and somber Fear & Loathing. Wether these two tracks are part of the new album we don’t know.
Fear and Loathing came out under the monkier Electra Heart, now the name of the new album and Marina spoke to Pop Justice about it when it first surfaced saying :
‘Electra Heart is the antithesis of everything that I stand for. And the point of introducing her and building a whole concept around her is that she stands for the corrupt side of American ideology, and basically that’s the corruption of yourself. My worst fear – that’s anyone’s worst fear – is losing myself and becoming a vacuous person. And that happens a lot when you’re very ambitious.’
It sounds as though this next album will have many of the same core subject covered as the last, Hollywood what with the statement above and track titles such as Primadonna.
Marina likes to centre her song subjects around idealistic and fake beauty and the trappings of fame and fake-ness. After trying on many a guise herself including bright Americana outfits, blonde wigs, crazy sun glasses Marina has now with this new album gone for a much more demure look that we put up for you to see last week.
