LFW: Topman Design
Taking place in the stunning Royal Opera House, the Topman design show was a treat for all that attended. FROW was an addition of fun with the likes of model David Gandy, Alex Zane and music legend Ronnie Wood all in the spotlight.
Inspired by the cultural stance of a young Patti Smith and the photographer Robert Mapplethorpe, the designs were created with a rebellious, sinister and curious wearer in mind. Evoking a dark and dramatic look, high textured knitwear and a colour concoction of black and grey were high on the agenda throughout the show.
Leather was lavishly incorporated into the show featuring high shine leather trousers as well as a coat using cut out shapes of the material. Wonderfully created double breasted suits, studded belts and graphic patterns inspired by Mapplethorpe’s famous Lily print; all contributed to this strikingly dark AW12 collection.
