LFW: Math Collective
We entered the Vauxhall Fashion Scout Hall at the Freemasons for the AW 12 collection for Math Collective, his first independent fashion show. Immediately I was excited as he showed us that you can wear trainers with smart dresses, it even looks effortlessly fashionable! With Nike producing the trainers in plain black and neon pink you can’t go wrong really. Math did mix it up, with every other outfit being a sky scraper black patent stiletto.
Math showcased a sleek and sophisticated style, with a lot of work wear dresses and clean cut coats with upright collars, giving it a minimalist feeling. Their was no fuss or frills to the cut, with skinny tailored trousers in neat two tone colours, or skirts and dresses with a neat chiffon panel at the hem. Though it felt minimal the colour and fabric helped to add a weight to the collection, with a heavy wool knit, that reminded me of the classic Chanel tweed. It’s the kind of fabric that alludes to the English countryside however Math ran a silver and gold thread through it which lifted the otherwise heavy fabric.
We especially like the colours of this collection mixing the dark grey or earthy brown hues with the colour of the moment; coral. Having a bright coloured band sandwiched between a brown tweed knit and brown leather skirt would chase any winter blues away.
