LFW : Backstage with Jasper Garvida
Jasper Garvida stated Diana Vreeland as an inspiration for the collection. A collection that blended hard and soft elements, a characteristic Garvida believes Vreeland possessed. This showed true as the dresses and suits were strong with geometric shapes being conjured by large pockets and billowing cap sleeves, plus the embellishment of gold cladding. Though with all these strong shapes the ethos of the show veered away from masculine form and stayed elegant and feminine.
I spoke to Jasper Garvida after the show and he said ‘feminity’ was one word to sum up the collection, as well as provocative and powerfull, the latter being exercised by his mother troughout her life. Growing up Jasper Garvida was enamoured at how his mother, after raising 7 children, looked ‘so amazing all the time.’ She showed true inner strength, a characteristic Garvida aims to showcase with his collection.
The show brought these facts forwards with models being styled with 60s bouffant hair styles created by Herman Ho from L’Oreal and pared back make up created Michelle Webb from AOFM Pro, so they would look powerful and strong.

I wondered what Jasper Garvida would be looking forward to in the future, as his bridal range is growing with more press coverage and well known fans. He alighted to the possibility of the bridal range hitting a department store. Lets hope its a high street one so we can all feel an inner strength Garvida so wants us to feel.
