Hyde Park Gigs Saved
As we reported last week big live gigs in Hyde Park including future gigs by Rihanna and Madonna looked to be under threat from cancellation following noise complaints from Mayfair residence however today we hear the news that the London parks live music has been saved.
The problems first started when people in the neighbouring area complained that big pop and rock concerts were too noisy forcing Westminster council to hold a meeting to discuss the matter however they seem to have reached an agreement, but it’s not without its terms. While all nine concerts planned for the park this summer will go ahead as of 2013 the park will have it’s amount of concerts slashed from 13 to just nine, four of which will be allowed audiences of 65,000 while the other five, including the BBC Proms concerts, will need to be kept under 50,000.
Those holding concerts are also being warned to monitor noise levels to make sure they don’t breach restrictions imposed by the council with warnings that if anyone does break the rules the concerts will once again be in jeopardy.
