Hummingbird Bakery Old Brompton Road Relaunch
Cupcakes, cupcakes, cupcakes. This was the silent chant in my head as I turned up to check out the new look of London’s Old Brompton Road Hummingbird branch. The freshly decorated walls are a lovely shade of chocolatey brown, adorned with cupcakey art and mosaic Hummingbirds.
All very nice. But what the salivating people squeezed into the little shop had come wasn’t really the decor. It was the cakes. There’s no point denying. The clever cake-alchemists at Hummingbird had come up with some special cupcake cocktails for the night, we tucked into mojito cupcakes, rum and chocolate and pina coladas. Rolling out into the street wiping crumbs from our faces guiltily, Hummingbird gets my stamp of approval. Head down soon for some valentines day specials.
