The Door
Set just between the Pitcher and Pianos of Cornhill you will find the entrance to The Door.
A slightly older clientele resides here but this doesn’t for one second mean that you will be looked at strangely if you are not in a suit on entry.
The Door is a champagne, oyster bar and grill and does each expertly. We went down when they were rushed off their feet and still somehow the service was seamless (we credit this to one excellent waiter who went by the name of Pasquale).
Highlights include the enormous steaks cooked to perfection and the creamed spinach side. Though at this time of year the beef Wellington which we had is perfectly pink and the pastry has just the right combination of squidge versus flake.
The prices, you’ll be glad to know are really very affordable. You’re only going to get into credit card territory if you go for bottles of wine and a full three course plus sides. If you want to keep it simple then its an easy buy which in turn makes us love The Door all the more.
