Shaka Zulu
Shaka Zulu is a statement restaurant if ever you saw one. Set just inside the stables market through an unassuming door and down an escalator to arrive in a shell covered corridor and a large room full of life size and bigger African carvings and embroidered chairs and marble tables.
Shaka Zulu does South African cuisine with a twist and serves a selection of game meat (among other things) that includes Kudu, Ostrich and Springbok from Namibia.
The star of the menu is without a doubt the Shaka Zulu sample board consisting of a pretty decent 900g of meat (if you know a man, this is where he will want to go) that includes all the above mentioned game meat as well as sausage and monkey gland sauce that sounds interesting but is lovely. All the meat in this dish is served perfectly pink and on a large wooden board to be shared by two.
Other things of note t Shaka Zulu are the amazing non-alcoholic cocktail options that might be the first of their kind that could never leave you jealous of someone else’s spirit spiked drink.
All of this is in amazing surrounding that really channel the spirit of South Africa with huge elephants carved on the walls, snake skin sinks in the bathrooms and a marble zebra print bar.
