Montague Arms
Yes it’s a little way out and it is a good 5-8 minutes walk form the station but that walk is in a pretty much straight line and it’s not hard to find plus once you get there it’ll be worth it.
Stuck rather out on a limb with not too much else around it save some tables and a road the Montague Arms looks unassuming from the front but once inside it’s clear what differences it harbours. Decked out like the inside of a cluttered pirate ship the Montague Arms is covered from head to toe in pirate ship flags, skeletons, masts and some rather random deer heads and general taxidermy.
The bar staff are a strange mixture of general and granny which sometimes feels odd, but considering the drinks are cheep it’s generally of no concern. There is live music most weekends and it will only cost you £3 to get in and have a listen.
