Bunga Bunga in Battersea offers a fun night out with an emphasis on the kitsch and camp. The bar, pizzeria and karaoke venue promises to be ‘a celebration of all that is amusing and melodramatic in Italian culture’.
Set up by Duncan Stirling and Charlie Gilkes, Bunga Bunga draws on their experiences of Little Italy in New York, and their previous successes with cult speakeasy Barts and 80’s themed club Maggies in Chelsea.
Guests enter the bar through an Italian phone box, inside you will find a gondola shaped bar with the walls decorated with scenes of Venice. Next to the bar is a dining area separated by a stage in the shape of The Collosseum, serving a special ‘lean tower of pizza’ for those with a big appetite, and a range named after the famous Bunga Bunga girls such as Ruby, Aida and Micaela. Up the dramatic staircase you will find L’osservatorio (observatory) with views over London, and a Eurovision themed karaoke room with a dressing up box so you can dress up like Bucks Fizz and sing just as badly.
Open Thursday 5pm – 12.30am, Friday 5pm – 2.30am, Saturday 7pm – 2.30am
