Henry Flint, Tools Of The Trade

Before his upcoming show at Pure Evil later this month we asked Henry Flint what the tools of his trade were and where he finds inspiration.

On his tools :

‘Tools of the trade would be A3 sketch books and loose A3 cartridge paper. Anything that makes black marks. Gel pens, biros, fountain pens, Roting pens, felt tips, brush pens, markers and for white marks any type of tip-x or correction fluid. I use pencils in my comic book job but never in the doodling work. I find it hard to recreate a black line over pencil, the first line is always the one with energy.’

On inspiration :

‘I get Inspiration from the Television. Watching and concentrating on something other than the page you’re working on allows the mind to switch off and the subconscious to take over. Images are created with no real idea of where they’re going. Doodling you could say. On doctors advise It’s also good for lowering the blood pressure.’
