DOUBLE DENIM
No matter what style bible you choose to consult (although here’s hoping it’s this one), the return this summer of double denim has been greeted with the same response: sheer panic. ‘TREND ALERT,’ screamed a recent New York Post headline, while an article on one fashion blog opted for the rhetorical ridicule of ‘SERIOUSLY?’ another simply asked, minus the capitals, if the trend was indeed ‘The Ultimate Sin?’. For an outsider – or at least for those of us who don’t consider ourselves to be ‘darlings’ of fashion – it’s a level of bewilderment akin to a resurrection of Swine flu, only this time the disease has come back dressed in a chambray shirt and armed with the power to make you look like a berk.
