A Naked Catwalk In Hackney
For this September’s SS/12 London Fashion Week it has been announced that there will be a nearly naked fashion show to show off hats and fascinators and it’s causing quite a stir.
The Welsh miliner Robyn Coles has admitted that the announcement and the nakedness was purely to raise awareness but it’s worked. Though with regards to the nakedness Coles, a former fashion buyer for Browns, states that there will be ‘no tricks or hidden underwear.’
Coles began his hat making a year ago after being made redundant and for his nearly naked show he will be using a mixture of friends and life drawing models who have agreed to bare all. One of the models is Jack friend and comedian Jeff Leach and another is the former Miss Wales Sophia Cahill, who at the time of strutting down the catwalk will be seven months pregnant.
We like Robyn’s attitude though, ‘I thought it’d be a nice light hearted end to fashion week,’ said 31-year old Robyn. ‘I’m not a conventional designer so I thought it’d be foolish of me to use conventional methods – plus I can’t afford proper models,’ she said.
